A Bit About Dr. Sturkey

Dr. Andrea Matrell Eaddy-Sturkey is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Berkeley County School District (SC). In this role, she leads the district’s team of human resources professionals who drive the district’s efforts to be a premier district through a focus on talent development, talent acquisition, and employee engagement. Prior to her current role, Matrell has served in various roles including teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of curriculum and instruction, director/assistant superintendent of human resources, interim/acting superintendent, director of secondary education and assistant superintendent of professional development. She also served as a curriculum specialist and principal leader with the South Carolina Department of Education. Dr. Sturkey received her undergraduate degree from Francis Marion College with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She went on to receive a Master’s degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Winthrop University and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. With over 30 years in public education, her vision for public education is to utilize the most current and cutting edge practices and products to facilitate optimal teaching and learning in schools. She is the CEO and senior consultant of New Mind Solutions, LLC.
